* THE ANGRY FINGER - IT'S NOT WHAT YOU MAY THINK! “Roid Rage” is a term often used to blanket aggressive behavior in androgenic anabolic steroid users. However, what is to blame when steroids are not involved? Researchers at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, believe that a fourth finger (ring finger) that is much longer than the second finger is a sign of physical aggression. A relatively longer ring finger indicates that a man was exposed to higher levels of testosterone in the womb. “More testosterone in the womb predicts more physical aggression in men”. Allison Baley, Retuters News.

The study, published in the March issue of Biological Psychology, is not the first study to link finger length with behavior. Another study found that men with a second finger much smaller than their fourth usually do better in sports. This information may play a factor in determining children’s sport activities and whether they are better suited for team or individual competitions. (JOIN OUR FREE NEWSLETTER TO BE ELIGIBLE!)

* PROTEIN & KIDNEY DAMAGE: How many times have you heard too much protein will destroy your kidneys? by Strength Coach Jamie Hale - This is a common statement heard when speaking of high protein diets. You would think there should be mounds of evidence indicating this. After all, my doctor or dietitian said so. Like many other statements concerning nutrition the above statement cannot be verified by scientific or practical study. Athletes, particularly in sports requiring strength and power, consume high levels of dietary protein. In fact, many athletes habitually consume protein in excess of 2.0 g/kg/day. Supplementation with amino acids will further increase dietary protein levels in these individuals. Yet there is no evidence that this population is at greater risk for kidney disease or losses in renal function. Poortsmans and Dellalieux found that protein intakes in the range of (JOIN OUR FREE NEWSLETTER TO BE ELIGIBLE!)

* Q&A WITH DR. ERIC SERRANO: Q: I have a couple of questions. The first question is - I have taken a loooong break in an attempt to recover from my overtrained body; you know, the usual symptoms, lethargy, fatigue and insomnia to name but a few. I’ve been out of the gym for almost 7 weeks now, and have not done any kinda training (maintained my low-carb diet in an attempt to stay lean), and lost something like 7 kgs because my body does not seem to hold onto muscle well in the absence of training. I am much leaner now, but I feel really “small.” I don't feel as tired or as fatigued as before, but I’m not sure if I am truly recovered yet because I still find myself waking up at least twice every night. I go to sleep at 11pm (no problems going to sleep), but then I always wake up one hour later, then again at 2 am again. I go right back to sleep, then wakeup to my alarm at 7:30 am. Is it okay for me to go back to the gym yet, inspite of my insomnia?

A: Yes, it appears that you are definitely overtraining. It will take your body approximately 8 to 12 weeks to recuperate, and may take up to 6 to 8 MONTHS if (JOIN OUR FREE NEWSLETTER TO BE ELIGIBLE!)

Q: Do you have any recommendations on how to lean out biceps, triceps and shoulder area? I am a female who can get her six pack to show but I have the most stubborn arms which refuse to "cut up". I realize it's bodyfat related and that you can't target body areas specifically for fat loss and definition, but, why are other areas of my body defined and my arms aren't?

A: Wow this is a good one! Here are my recommendations (JOIN OUR FREE NEWSLETTER TO BE ELIGIBLE!)

Q: I have suffered horrible digestive problems that have ruined my workouts. In fact you would never guess that I have worked out hard for 11 years. Fats rot and come out in my stools undigested, protein petrifies, and fruits ferment. I have never been a carb tolerant person, and rarely eat starchy carbs. I also had high levels of inflammation. How do you completely rebuild the digestive system? Oh by the way the enzymes and acidopholis I have tried don't seem to help. I am at a loss and this has debilitated my life, and my passion for training.

A: You must change and clean your diet first as until you do, no supplement will be able to do it’s job. You need to see your physician to check your sugar, insulin, enzymes, Vitamin B12, vitamin levels, food allergy testing as well as your TSH, T4 and T3 levels. * MS BEHAV'N DATING TIP: Jealousy can stem from personal insecurity or a lack of self-confidence or lack of confidence in the strength of a relationship. For example, you can be confident with yourself but insecure about your relationship. Consequently, you can rarely be confident with your relationship and insecure about yourself. To avoid jealousy in relationships, you should choose a partner with a good track record in the trust department. You should be upfront with your partner about any doubts or fears you have and discuss whether they should be founded or not. If they are valid, then your jealousy will never subside and the relationship is not for you. However, constantly giving false accusations about what you think your partner’s intentions may be will push them away quickly. Acting out on your feelings of jealousy is a way to exert your power over something you may feel is being threatened or taken away from you. Purposely making someone jealous is another way to exert your power over them. Jealousy may be unavoidable, but ultimately you are responsible for how you deal with this emotion and whether you would like your lesser half otherwise known as the "green eyed monster" to reak havoc!
