Anti Aging | Longevity
What's the Answer?
So if cosmetics, surgery, spas, and all the other beauty and anti-aging
products and treatments aren't the answer, what is?
Simple.
What you need to do is to decrease damage to tissues in the body,
and provide effective ways for your body to repair itself. This
is done by decreasing inflammation and oxidant damage to the body
as a whole rather than just making an anti-aging statement. You
can't provide intensive protection against free radicals that damage
the DNA, and you can't decrease inflammation in the body, from creams
and lotions. It just doesn't work that way. You have to work from
the inside out rather than the other way around.
The answer is that ageing is strongly influenced by the way we
lead our lives, especially our activity level and nutrition. And
part of the nutrition end is using the right nutritional supplements
that work synergistically with the rest of the anti-aging plan.
Systemic antioxidants, and natural anti-inflammatory and immune
system stimulators not only increase the ability of the skin to
repair itself and helps to decrease damage from the sun, environment,
and aging, but they do the same for the rest of your body, including
your heart and brain.
ReNew
ReNew is one of the best supplements available for anti-aging.
It contains over 70 ingredients that work synergistically to keep
you healthy and strong, and decrease the effects of our lifestyle
and environment on aging.
Included in the formulation of ReNew are all of the ingredients
that have been found to be useful for rejuvenating skin, including
vitamin C, alpha lipoic acid (ALA), dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE),
coenzyme Q10, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, carnosine and
dozens more.
Carnosine is one of the newest ingredients that are felt to have
an impact on healing and keeping skin healthy. It's not only a powerful
antioxidant, it also inhibits glycation, a destructive protein/sugar
reaction that occurs in the body and which contributes to aging
through a number of mechanisms including the breakdown of collagen
and other tissue components, and cellular dysfunction.
ReNew also contains a number of antioxidants besides the vitamin
C, ALA and the minerals mentioned above including vitamin E, selenium,
zinc, reduced glutathione and N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC). But ReNew
does more than just provide exogenous antioxidants, it also increases
the levels of the important endogenous antioxidants.
It's been shown, for example, that selenium, vitamin C, NAC and
riboflavin (vitamin B2), all present in ReNew, raise endogenous
levels of the most important endogenous antioxidants, including
superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase.
As well, ReNew contains reduced glutathione, the most active and
important antioxidant in the body.
ReNew, along with MVM,
a comprehensive multivitamin and mineral formulation that's as far
ahead of the rest of the multis as ReNew is ahead of the cosmeceuticals,
make up my Basic Anti-Aging Package. For those that need more, there's
the Intermediate and Advanced Anti-Aging Packages.
The bottom line is that emphasis on youthful skin should be on
a systemic level rather than on a topical one. The foundation for
youthful skin comes from having a healthy and strong body that is
able to better withstand the destructive influences of our environment
and aging. Once that's in place, the creams and lotions and other
non destructive therapies can be used as window dressing.
